These pieces of living room decor complemented the overall feel of the room perfectly. The black cabinets added modernity and sleekness while the cozy accent chairs gave it that comfortable cottage feel. Having a neutral base for the living room created the perfect slate to add modern cottage elements throughout. 

A Modern Cottage Dining Room: 

Designing a dining room for a modern cottage style interior is all about creating a natural space perfect for gathering. See everything we used for this modern cottage dining room design here:

One of the most important rooms of a modern cottage home is the kitchen. Kitchen design can truly make or break a home, and this kitchen interior design complements the house perfectly. See everything we used to take inspiration from a Texas interior designer:

More Tips for Creating a Modern Cottage Home: 

1. Start with a neutral base 

All of the walls and large furniture items in this modern cottage are a neutral color. I used “Greek Villa” by Sherwin Williams as the paint color for all the walls, which allowed me to layer pops of color from other elements throughout the design. Starting with a neutral color lets you explore different home color schemes and elevate your style with other pieces, like we did with the green accent chair!

2. Blend modernity and old world charm

A cottage home, overall, feels very cozy and comfortable and has an old world charm feel. To make it modern, it needs added elements that are sleeker that still look good with the charm of the home. For example, we used the modern black cabinets in the living room to add a bit of edge to give it that more modern feel without it being too edgy.
