You will hear from a lot of people on social media about what is "trending" currently and while this is a trend that is hitting the market and social media more, I personally NEVER design with trends in mind. This interior style has been incorporated in homes for more than a century but has also had a modern approach lately. That style is Art Deco and it is my favorite interior style by far. Shall we talk more in depth about this?
What is Art Deco exactly?
I could go into the full history about Art deco and where it originated and how it got introduced in to U.S interiors but I also don't want to bore you. Let's just get straight to the nitty gritty and talk about what it looks like and how you can incorporate it.

When I think of incorporating Art Deco I think of
- Jewel tones
- Rich velvets
- Brass
- Geometric and sculptural light fixtures
- Exotic wood
- Statement art
- Decorative mouldings
- Lacquered wood

This photo screams art deco with the gorgeous vintage Murano Glass light fixture also, who wouldn't DIE to have those original hand scraped wood floors?

Another favorite style of mine is a mixture of Art Deco with Dark Academia. This photo is a great example of the two mixed and it's from one of my favorite spots in Dallas, Hotel Swexan. You will see the mixture of the rich wood, heavy wall moulding, jewel tones and rich velvets.

Here's a fun example of Art Deco within a powder bath. The geometric floor, lacquered wood and brass accents highlight the style very well!

To end this fun blog about Art Deco here are two rooms by one of my favorite design firms that highlight some Art Deco. This living space shows off the style with the rich colors, abstract red marble, and the large brass credenza.

The brass sculptural chairs pay tribute to the Art Deco style along with the rich paint color on the walls.
